Uplift + Empower

This new single from Florence and The Machine has kept my singing head in a quite heavenly state.

Listen to it once and you'll find yourself in a slow subconscious sway...
Listen to it twice and you'll grasp hold of the lovely lesson-granting lyrics...
Listen to it three times, and amidst your deep thinking you'll be doing simultaneous downloading.

The singer, Florence (obviously), loved the original version of the song by Candi Station. So, she and her band (the machine) slightly innovated the song into their own and played it as an enthusiastic adventure to uplift and empower their audience. Works for me!

Creatively Cozy

Keep cozy in the withered weathered- but don't abandon your aesthetic.

I've created this style look from H&M's website.
It's what I would be wearing today if the weather allotted opportunity for exiting a cozy room. With an adorable coat, thick tights and a thick sweater top, the cold-factor is vanished. Throw on a cute skirt, boots and accessories galore to glam it up some more!

Imbue yourself with creativity rather than covering up your look with an ordinary coat. My favorite blogger, The Glamourai, designed this funky wrap to toss on top. Move the magical sleeves as you like and create a vest, wrap, or dress. The many ways to wear it make it mandatory for winter wardrobes.

Fiercely Feminine Fashion

These photographs are so stylishly strong and independently inspiring. For today, a little fashion motivation and fierce femininity is right on target.

Long Gloves on Like.com

As a new fashion writer for Like.com, I am uber excited that my first article has posted! I've been putting lots of merry time towards that, which is fair reason why this blog has been slightly ignored.

Take a look when time allots...

Faux Fur

Faux Fur is clearly another fall frenzy.
This topshop coat is a way to meet trend and novelty halfway.
With a one-of-a-kind coat, spiff up the spirit of a dreary day.
It'll make you feel priceless, or just done-up in a messy-look way.

Overall Obsession

Oh My!!! I've just discovered my new spring collection obsession. What a way to bring overalls back!

Seriously, I can't get enough of these street-meets-scribbles looks. 80's can be overloaded, like that song that they play 4309858430 too many times on the radio...but Louise Gray seems to bring intelligence to innovation. The creations are pulsating with playful palettes and prints while still maintaining cohesive charm and class.
In addition to everything so wonderful about the designer's collection, apparently the joy of everyday London life spurred the entire vision.

Take a look at some of my favorites:

Happy Halloween!

Hoping everyone's costumes are fabulous, and everyone's night is fun.
Happy Halloween.

Friday Frenzy

Although this has been 'bedrest' week after being hospitalized for being too sickly, cramming Halloween shopping into two days has definitely overpowered the rest.

Among the search for all my costume needs, I happened to see that O.P.I. released a matte collection for this fall. Of course, the minty green I've been searching for lay upon the polish rack for sale.
Chanel's Paris debut of the mint green nails on the Autumn/Winter 2009 models sprung green to top nail demand. Shortly after Chanel released it's Jade masterpiece, many others followed.

I'm on my way to complete the last of my Halloween spending...and in that same trip I'm getting my Gargantuan Green Grape O.P.I. polish :)

Donning the Flu

I woke up this morning with a fever after a rough night of tossing and turning and dreaming that I was sick. Indeed I am, so instead of twirling in the sunny weather I'm in sweats watching Dirty Dancing...
If I was out and about, I'd be donning something like such today:

Colorful, creative and appropriate for some Friday Fun.

Fashion Minga!

10/16/09- I attended Boulevard 3 in LA for Fashion Minga, an event to showcase new talent in fashion, art, music, dance....etc. The fantastic collaboration revolved around a runway show, where fashionistas, night-on-the-towners and the likes gathered for entertainment and inspiration.
Designers included:
Li Cari, Tal Sheyn, Jackie Christie, Celebrity Pink, Urban Public Jeans, Nuvula, and Miasma Designs.

The Unite hair team, including my sister Michelle, used inspirational photos to create the appropriate looks for each designer's models.

A Victorian's Life for Me

Fur Fur Spring/Summer 2010:

During Tokyo's Fashion Week, designer Aya Furuhashi showcased the Fur Fur collection by flooding fabrics down the runway, Pirate-looking models wore Victorian handled reconstructed pieces. And a full band played sweet sounds.

Au Courant Alphabeat

First single/New album/"The Spell"

One of my favorite UK sensations, Alphabeat, is releasing their second album! Stine and Anders lead the band as the greatest singing duo who happen to look as good as they sing, always.  Stine coupled second-album with darker hair while Anders still looks like a sexy cast member from Hairspray :) Originally from Denmark, they're blowing up everywhere. All of their songs are retro-vibed, poppy feel-good hits....that I la-la- LOVE.

Glamorous Glitch

"Pop Life: Art in a Material World":

For W Magazine's Art Issue, artist Maurizio Cattelan envisioned a woman battling moral vs. the material world. It became both a political and religious creation. Supermodel Linda Evangelista packed peculiar character into her role as the star.

Foxy Armani

P.S. Giorgio Armani just signed on Megan Fox to be the new face (body) for his jeans and underwear ads. She'll be in print and billboard ads succeeding the lovely Victoria Beckham, who was last year's face for Armani product-placement.

(I can't even believe I'm posting this due to my ultimate jealousy of everything Megan-related)

Olsen Sunnies

It's a little cliche to love these girls--but I LOVE these girls... although they have open-ended opportunities, they also have 100% successful careers. The two are geniuses in the fashion world and they deserve every amount of attention and profit from their visions. With that said, they are bringing sunglasses to their high-end line, The Row.

Among many other fashion trends, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen brought the oversized sunglasses to city streets and teenybopper's wardrobe...and yes, to mine too.
Now the sunglasses are a mandatory accessory for everyday wear. Whether you're hiding your hangover eyes, don't want to wear make-up, or simply like the way they fit your face... now MK and A can provide you with their own sunglasses designs. YEY! They didn't already have them? Nope. But come Spring, you may have a pair (for a rather hefty price). From $325-$390, the collection has a 60's inspired look, retro metal aviator shades, big black squares...etc. There are four different styles, for now..

"We’re testing the market first and obviously these are four very different silhouettes, so we’re seeing what people are responding to and we’ll open up a couple more silhouettes for fall”
-Ashley Olsen

Chalayan's Spring

Picture this: The first Barbie ever

And This: Audrey Hepburn's pristine sophistication

...and you get an idea of Hussein Chalayan's S/S 2010 lookbook.
My Favorites:

The palettes don't stretch beyond black, white, soft cream tones, and navy. The collection looks like a perfect spring where warmth and wealth are present. Far from casual, Chalayan's philosophy was based on reaching a polished, yet leisured lifestyle due to 'the fantasy we all have of being able not to work" as he stated.

Unite

UNITE Unveiled hosted the Genart event "Fresh Faces" at the Mondrian Skybar in LA on Tuesday. The fashion event showcases upcoming designers in the industry. This year my sister, Michelle Evans, joined one of the most reputable hairstylists to complete the models' head to toe looks by styling phenomenal hair.

Kristen Cavallari hosted the event, and many other annoying reality TV stars made their presence as well. Well known successful designers such as Zac Posen (!!!) first got their start at this event.

I was fortunate to attend and observe the scene as a whole, while meeting fellow fashionistas.

Below are pictures of the event:
