 I really wish I lived back in the day, or in NY today, so that I could freely wear the look with reason...and laugh while listening to pleasant, sparky jazz music with great company and great food... during a Sunday sunset right before an art opening at a local gallery serving champagne and seasonal fruits.

My New

Emilie Simon: rooted in France, blosoming in New York. 

The soundscapes of her notes were inspired by a year and a half break from all things musical. After two back-to-back albums she dropped the mic, restrained from the computer, and just lived. Of course the experiences along with those actions led to the motivation of a new album... coming soon.

Emilie's versitility on stage springs from her beautiful visual appeal, fashion charge, and instruments specifically made for her needs and desires. In this video she's wearing 'The Arm' which enables her to change and control her voice on stage by adding electronic tones.

I LOVE THIS!!!

Introducing the most refreshing take on fashion display: TOFU brand. 

Although the women's brand was launched back in 2005, it's the 2009 Autumn marketing approach that has my eyes twinkling. To me, it alludes to the TV show "Pushing Daises" with its odd fairy-tale vibe. I can't help but smile when I see the unexpected creative direction that Tofu pioneers with its functional dresses that hang so silky and sweet on doll-like models in an enchanted wonderland. I want to be in that la-la land wearing a colorful and unpredictable piece, offset by enormous music notes, umbrellas, cookies and bees...such a simple life.

Back and Bold

Structured shoulders hit the runway and now designers, models, and bloggers alike are bringing the 80's trend to the 2009 market. Were they ever flattering? The sculptured aesthetics add a brave little umph and provide a woman-in-power tone... If you can pull 'em off--do it!

Many DIY guides are taking the shoulder pad look and adding feathers and fringe to give more of a decoration agenda as opposed to angular definition....

Swedish Sounds

What an exciting way to end the week! At the No Doubt show yesterday in Irvine, I squirmed my way up to say hi and snap a few photos of Maja Ivarsson and the other members of The Sounds, the Swedish new wave rock band that I've been following for quite some time. She was just smoking her cig, looking good, and being cool...the three things she does best (singing is up there too). 

P.S. Maja and I share the same birthday!
